Prior Codifications 1981 Ed., § 31-2812. Temporary Amendments of Section Section 2 of D.C. Laws 13-143 added subsec. (e) to provide: "(e) Notwithstanding subsections (a) through (d) of this section, there shall be a moratorium on the conversion of any District of Columbia public school into a public charter school.". Section 5(b) of D.C. Laws 13-143 provides that the act shall expire after 225 days of its having taken effect. Law 13-172, the "Fiscal Year 2001 Budget Support Act of 2000," was introduced in Council and assigned Bill No. 13-679, which was referred to the Committee of the Whole. The Bill was adopted on first and second readings on May 15, 2000, and June 6, 2000, respectively. Signed by the Mayor on June 26, 2000, it was assigned Act No. 13-175 and transmitted to both Houses of Congress for its review. D.C. Law 13-172 became effective on October 19, 2000.
