Except as provided in the District of Columbia Spouse Equity Act of 1988, none of the money mentioned in this part (including any assets of the District of Columbia Teachers' Retirement Fund established by § 1-713(a)) shall be assignable, either in law or equity, or be subject to execution or levy by attachment, garnishment, or other legal process.

Prior Codifications 1981 Ed., § 31-1238. 1973 Ed., § 31-737. Legislative History of Laws Law 7-214 was introduced in Council and assigned Bill No. 7-389, which was referred to the Committee on Government Operations. The Bill was adopted on first and second readings on November 29, 1988, and December 13, 1988, respectively. Signed by the Mayor on January 6, 1989, it was assigned Act No. 7-289 and transmitted to both Houses of Congress for its review.
