The DC Code: § 47-1062 Bread for the City Community Garden.

The real property located in square 445, lots 198, 199, and 200, which is owned and used by Bread For The City as a community garden, is hereby exempt from all taxation so long as the property continues to be so owned and used, not used for commercial purposes, and subject to the provisions of § 47-1005, § 47-1007, and § 47-1009, as if the exemption were granted administratively under this chapter.

Historical and Statutory

Legislative History of Laws Law 15-283, the "Bread for the City Community Garden Equitable Real Property Tax Relief Act of 2004", was introduced in Council and assigned Bill No. 15- 585, which was referred to the Committee on Finance and Revenue. The Bill was adopted on first and second readings on November 9, 2004, and December 7, 2004, respectively. Signed by the Mayor on December 29, 2004, it was assigned Act No. 15-676 and transmitted to both Houses of Congress for its review. D.C. Law 15-283 became effective on April 5, 2005.
