Prior Codifications 1981 Ed., § 47-3101. 1973 Ed., § 47-3201. Legislative History of Laws Law 2-114, the "District of Columbia Consumer Transmission of Money Act of 1978," was introduced in Council and assigned Bill No. 2-210, which was referred to the Committee on Public Services and Consumer Affairs. The Bill was adopted on first and second readings on June 13, 1978 and June 27, 1978, respectively. Signed by the Mayor on July 21, 1978, it was assigned Act No. 2- 242 and transmitted to both Houses of Congress for its review. Law 13-140, the "Money Transmitters Act of 2000," was introduced in Council and assigned Bill No. 13-367, which was referred to the Committee on Economic Development. The Bill was adopted on first and second readings on March 7, 2000, and April 4, 2000, respectively. Signed by the Mayor on April 20, 2000, it was assigned Act No. 13-322 and transmitted to both Houses of Congress for its review. D.C. Law 13-140 became effective on July 18, 2000.
