The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, Inc., is authorized to establish the National Law Enforcement Heroes Memorial on federal land in the District of Columbia or its environs to honor law enforcement officers who die in the line of duty.

Historical and Statutory

Prior Codifications 1981 Ed., § 4-1121. Legislative History of Laws Law 8-2, the "Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Act of 1989," was introduced in Council and assigned Bill No. 8-91, which was referred to the Committee on Public Works. The Bill was adopted on first and second readings on February 28, 1989 and March 14, 1989, respectively. Signed by the Mayor on March 29, 1989, it was assigned Act No. 8-12 and transmitted to both Houses of Congress for its review. DC CODE § 5-1331 Current through December 11, 2012
